Add a DOSE of Joy for Vibrant Health

On a recent trip to the Mindshare Summit, Dr. Zendi and I had the privilege of meeting some amazing innovators in health and wellness. One of our absolute favorites was Radha Agrawal, co-founder of Daybreaker and author of Belong: Find Your People, Create Community & Live a More Connected Life.

After all – who couldn’t use more joy and feelings of deep belonging. We got to dance, laugh, and learn about how to create more joy in our life with this amazing woman and we can’t wait to share it with you!

MORE JOY = healthier, wealthier, more love, less stress, more fertile, more friends, more creativity, anti-aging, less stagnation, less anger, more forgiveness, less isolation and loneliness, less anxiety and depression.

Joy is such an important part of living a vibrant life with health and happiness and there are actually things that you can DO to create more joy in your life. We will share two of them with you - a daily joy practice and building your connected tribe (something that you can work on over time). We hope that you enjoy these resources as much as we have - true vibrant health comes when you address the needs of your body, mind, and spirit.

What is a Daily Joy Practice?

A daily joy practice is simple - it is you deciding to take a few minutes of your day to be intentional about creating moments that spark joy. There are four main happy neurochemicals that you can work to stimulate and when you do - guess what? You feel more joyful - naturally. Amazing. You can do this.

The Four Happy Neurotransmitters:

  • Dopamine - Activated by pleasure and reward (get something done - satisfying!)
  • Oxytocin - Activated by physical touch (think warm hugs)
  • Seratonin - Activated by mood, behavior, appetite, and sleep (get some sunshine, express gratitude)
  • Endorphins - Activated by working out, dancing, getting heart rate up (runners high)

Instead of reaching for a pill, you can give yourself a DOSE of natural joy with some simple methods. There are many things that you can do, but some of the things that reliably move the needle are:

  • Dancing
  • Breath Work
  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Community Participation

Daybreaker+ for Your Daily DOSE of Joy

Daybreaker started as an early-morning sober community-building dance party movement in multiple cities around the world from Toranto to Sao Paulo. It quickly grew to 500,000+ members. Clearly the have something special.

It's silly, fun, mischeivous, intimate and just so... joyful (Just watch the trailer)!

Daybreaker wanted to bring this to everyone regardless of location or schedule.

The Daybreaker community has really nailed it, and this year launched the Daybreaker+ app which has the most potent wellness practices focused on joy (it is a muscle to be flexed after all!). Since I returned from my trip, I’ve been practicing joy with Daybreaker+ daily and it has already been game changing for me.

Daybreaker teamed up with researchers at the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley to develop an assessment that maps your own happiness blueprint and creates a unique a DOSE prescription just for you. The Daybreaker+ app provides support where you need it the most, then tracks your results and measures the impact.

Each Joy Practice has been engineered to release one of your four happy neurochemicals: dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin & endorphins (aka your DOSE). In human speak, those are the chemicals that help you bliss out naturally.

Building Your Connected Tribe

Feeling connected to a community of like-minded people where you feel like they just ‘get’ you is hugely important, but how do you find that? Radha has written a simple-to-follow book, Belong. With clear steps to build your tribe, we highly recommend it for anyone who feels like they don’t have a group where they 'click' and feel at home.

In the book, Radha walks you through some simple exercises to build your tribe:

  • Gentle self-awareness about how you are showing up in the world
  • Getting intentional about who you want to be
  • Setting your energetic temperature to become a friend magnet
  • Going out in the world to find your tribe
  • The four stages of community
  • Reframing and embracing conflict
  • Belonging and aging

Get the book, do the exercises, and start to build the community that you have always wanted!

In joy,
