What is PANS/PANDAS? 

Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS) and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections (PANDAS) are conditions characterized by the sudden onset of obsessive-compulsive behaviors and other neuropsychiatric symptoms following an infection or other immune system trigger. These disorders involve an abnormal immune response that affects the brain, leading to rapid and severe changes in behavior, mood, and cognitive function.
